Why EBOO at Next Health

"An Advanced Procedure, Delivered the Way Advanced Procedures Should Be."

EBOO is an advanced wellness procedure that has been offered in clinical and wellness settings around the world for decades. It is currently classified by the FDA as investigational, meaning it has not received FDA approval for any specific medical indication.

That is an important distinction, and we want to make it clear at the start of this page rather than at the bottom. EBOO is not a treatment we offer for any disease. We offer it as a wellness procedure designed to support general biological processes that interest patients focused on cellular optimization, recovery, and longevity.

The difference between Next Health and many other providers offering this procedure is the supervision around it. EBOO sessions at Next Health are conducted under direct physician oversight. We require a screening consultation before any session is scheduled. We monitor every session in real time. We do not offer EBOO to patients for whom it is not clinically appropriate.

If you are exploring EBOO as part of a broader wellness or longevity strategy, we welcome a consultation to discuss whether the procedure fits your goals — and to answer your questions honestly about what we offer, what we do not claim, and what the current state of research can and cannot tell us.

The Science of EBOO

Understanding the Procedure.

EBOO is a clinical procedure with specific equipment, a specific process, and a specific underlying biology. The following describes how the procedure operates.

What EBOO Is

EBOO stands for Extracorporeal Blood Oxygenation and Ozonation. It is a procedure in which a small portion of a patient's blood is circulated through a closed-system medical device, exposed to a calibrated mixture of oxygen and medical-grade ozone, and returned to circulation. The procedure is sometimes also referred to as 'ten-pass ozone' or 'hyperbaric ozone' in clinical literature, though specific equipment and protocols vary by provider.

What Happens During a Session

During a Next Health EBOO session, blood is drawn through a specialized circuit, passes through a filtration component designed to remove certain particulate elements, is exposed to a precisely calibrated oxygen-ozone mixture, and is returned to the patient — all under continuous physician supervision. The full procedure takes approximately 90 minutes. Patients remain comfortable in a clinical recliner throughout.

What the Body Encounters

Ozone (O₃) is a three-atom oxygen molecule that, in clinical settings, acts as a mild controlled oxidative stimulus. The body's response to controlled oxidative stimulus is part of its normal biological repertoire — the same general category of response involved in exercise and many other wellness modalities. EBOO is designed to leverage this response in a precise, monitored, clinical setting.

The Biology of Oxidative Balance

The body maintains a constant balance between oxidative and antioxidant processes — the system biologists call redox homeostasis. This balance is involved in many fundamental cellular activities: energy production in the mitochondria, immune function, signaling between cells, and the body's ongoing maintenance of healthy function.

EBOO is designed to interact with this system through controlled, brief exposure of circulating blood to oxygen and ozone. The intended effect is on general cellular processes — oxygenation, oxidative balance, and circulation. EBOO is not a treatment for any specific condition. It is a wellness procedure designed to support general biological processes that interest patients focused on cellular optimization.

A precise procedure. Carefully delivered. Under direct medical supervision.

The Next Health Standard of Care

The Clinical Standards That Make EBOO Different at Next Health.

EBOO is offered in many wellness settings. The protocol around the procedure varies dramatically from provider to provider. The following describes the standards that apply at every Next Health location offering EBOO.

Standard 1

Physician Screening Required Before Every Series

EBOO at Next Health begins with a screening consultation conducted by a Next Health physician. The screening reviews your full medical history, current medications, and goals, and identifies any contraindications. EBOO is not offered to patients for whom it is not clinically appropriate. This is non-negotiable.

Standard 2

Physician-Supervised, Continuously Monitored Sessions

Every Next Health EBOO session is conducted under direct physician oversight. A Next Health clinician is present throughout the procedure, with monitoring equipment tracking vital signs in real time. Sessions occur in a clinical environment designed for the procedure — not in a general wellness room.

Standard 3

Medical-Grade Equipment and Pharmaceutical Oxygen

Next Health uses medical-grade equipment manufactured for clinical use, with pharmaceutical oxygen and calibrated ozone generation. Equipment is maintained on a documented service schedule. Single-use components are not reused between patients under any circumstances.

Standard 4

Integration With Your Broader Care Plan

If you are an established Next Health patient, your EBOO sessions are documented in your medical record, coordinated with your other Next Health services, and considered by your physician in the context of your full wellness plan. EBOO is not offered as a standalone product disconnected from your care.

Transparent Disclosure

What You Should Know Before You Begin.

FDA Investigational Status

EBOO (Extracorporeal Blood Oxygenation and Ozonation) is considered an investigational procedure in the United States and has not received FDA approval for any specific medical indication. Next Health offers EBOO as a wellness procedure under physician supervision. We do not represent EBOO as a treatment for any disease, condition, or symptom. The procedure operates within the broader category of advanced wellness procedures and is subject to the same considerations as other investigational therapies described in our Medical Disclaimer.

Potential Risks and Side Effects

Most patients tolerate EBOO well. As with any procedure involving the circulatory system, some risks exist:

  • Local discomfort, bruising, or inflammation at access sites
  • Lightheadedness, dizziness, or mild nausea during or after the procedure
  • Rare allergic or hypersensitivity responses
  • Rare circulatory or vascular complications
  • As with any procedure involving the introduction of substances into the bloodstream, very rare serious complications are theoretically possible

Your screening physician will discuss the complete risk profile in detail during your consultation, including what to monitor for after each session.

Contraindications — EBOO Is Not Appropriate If You Have

Your physician will conduct a complete screening, but the following are general contraindications. If any apply to you, please disclose them during your consultation:

  • Glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase (G6PD) deficiency
  • Active bleeding disorders or anticoagulation therapy at certain levels
  • Pregnancy or breastfeeding
  • Recent major surgery or active wound healing
  • Certain cardiovascular conditions — these are reviewed individually with your physician
  • Active infection or fever
  • Certain other medical conditions or medications, as determined during screening

What to Tell Your Provider

Before scheduling EBOO, tell your provider about: all current medications and supplements, all medical conditions you are being treated for or monitored for, any prior experience with blood-based or extracorporeal procedures, any known allergies or sensitivities, and your full medical history. Complete and accurate disclosure is essential — both for your safety and for our ability to determine whether the procedure is clinically appropriate for you.

Right to Decline

If at any point you decide EBOO is not right for you — before, during, or between scheduled sessions — you may decline or discontinue without affecting your relationship with Next Health, your other care, or any membership you hold. Refunds for prepaid sessions follow the Next Health Refund and Cancellation Policy.

Next Health members receive 20% off EBOO session packages.

Is EBOO Right For Your Goals?

Four Patient Profiles Who Pursue EBOO at Next Health.

EBOO is a wellness procedure that fits specific goals and lifestyle profiles — not specific medical conditions. Your physician will help determine whether the procedure fits your individual situation during the screening consultation.

The Cellular Optimization Patient

Patients pursuing a comprehensive longevity and cellular optimization protocol who view EBOO as one component within a broader wellness strategy. Typically working with a longevity physician and tracking biomarkers, biological age, and other longevity-relevant data over time.

The High-Performance Recovery Patient

Patients with intensive physical training schedules, demanding professional travel, or other lifestyle factors that warrant attention to recovery and circulation. EBOO is one of several procedures these patients consider as part of an active recovery protocol.

The Established Wellness Patient

Patients who have integrated multiple advanced wellness procedures into their routine over time — IV therapy, peptide therapy, wellness technology — and are exploring EBOO as the next addition. Often longer-tenured Next Health patients with established relationships with a Next Health physician.

The Curious Researcher

Patients who have read independently about EBOO and want to evaluate the procedure with a physician who can discuss the current state of the science honestly. Often executive-level patients who prefer to make decisions based on direct conversation with a clinician rather than marketing materials.

What To Expect

From Consultation to Session — Step by Step.

01

Screening Consultation

Your EBOO journey begins with a screening consultation with a Next Health physician. The consultation takes approximately 30 minutes and covers your full medical history, current medications, goals, and any questions you have about the procedure. If clinically appropriate, sessions are scheduled at the end of the consultation.

02

Pre-Session Preparation

In the days before your first session, your Next Health team will provide preparation guidance — hydration, nutrition, any medication considerations, and what to wear. Most patients eat a light meal in the hours before the procedure and arrive well-hydrated.

03

The Session

On the day of your session, you arrive 15 minutes before your appointment. A brief pre-session physician check-in confirms clinical appropriateness for that day. You are settled in a clinical recliner. The procedure takes approximately 90 minutes under continuous monitoring. Most patients use the time to rest, read, or work.

04

Post-Session Recovery

After the procedure, a brief recovery period — typically 15 to 20 minutes — allows your Next Health clinician to confirm you are ready to leave. You receive personalized post-session guidance, including hydration recommendations, activity guidance for the next 24 hours, and what to monitor and report.

05

Between Sessions and Series Completion

Between sessions in a multi-session series, your Next Health team is available for any questions or concerns. Your physician reviews how you tolerated each session and adjusts the cadence or protocol as appropriate. After completing your initial series, your physician will discuss whether continuation, periodic maintenance, or completion is the right next step for your goals.
